The Texttime 2.0 Metal is a modern flip clock that displays time in words instead of numbers. The long horizontal format and metal case create a strong, architectural presence designed for contemporary interiors.

Inspired by classic split-flap displays once used in airports and train stations, the flipping cards reveal the time word by word — turning time into a visible sequence rather than a digital readout. The 2.0 version introduces an updated internal mechanism for smoother, more consistent flipping throughout the day.

The large display is easy to read from across the room, while the word-based format creates a distinctive graphic element that works as both timepiece and visual anchor.

Word-Based Flip Display

Spells out the time in words. Each minute the cards flip to reveal the next phrase — a clear, readable display with a mechanical rhythm that numbers can't match.

Split-Flap Mechanism

Based on traditional split-flap systems where each card rotates into place. The 2.0 update makes the movement smoother and more reliable than the original.

How does the display work?
The Texttime uses a split-flap mechanism — physical cards flip into place each minute to spell out the time in words. No digital screen, no LED. Purely mechanical.

What does it say instead of numbers?
It displays time in plain language, for example: IT IS TWENTY PAST THREE.

How do I set the time?
Set the clock to 12:00 first by turning the time-setting knob on the back clockwise. Then advance forward to the correct time. Always move clockwise only.

Wall or desk?
Both. The flat base allows it to stand on a desk, shelf, or console. A keyhole on the back is used for wall mounting.

Is there a second hand or ticking sound?
No second hand. The split-flap cards create a soft mechanical flip sound once per minute.

What batteries?
2 × C batteries (not included). Replace when the flip mechanism slows.

We received the Texttime 2.0 Bamboo clock after waiting for almost a month after ordering but it worth it.

We had a slight problem since the clip had moved in transport but the customer service helped us out.

Mine came and didn’t work properly. Emailed company one night. By the morning they emailed me saying they were shipping another one and send the broken one back. I’d say that’s customer service!!

The clock is great and fits in well with my decor. Although the setup instructions could have been a bit more helpful with setting the actual time. Took a few tries to get use to and gauge when the clock actually starts counting.

This clock is always a talking point when company is over due to its uniqueness and practicality. We love it and recommend it highly.

LOVE IT

great styling, have had a few of the number faces come off at the beginning. Easy to put back on and haven't had any issues since. Clock loses about a minute a day. I'll try putting in fresh batteries to see if that solves that issue.
