Tells time in words
No screen, no app

Designed in the Netherlands
Renée Vendrig didn't want a novelty clock — she wanted the flip to speak.
No screen, no glow. Just cards turning every minute, one at a time, whether you’re watching or not. Not a gadget. Art that keeps time.

A bamboo-framed text flip clock that tells time in words, not numbers. Its split-flap cards turn each minute, bringing warm materiality and gentle rhythm to a desk, shelf, or wall.

A long, quiet bar with a warm bamboo frame that tells the time in words instead of numbers. Each minute the cards turn over and the next phrase falls into place.

The idea comes from the split-flap boards of old airports and train stations, made slow and domestic. It reads clearly from across a kitchen, living room or studio.

Why it works

🔤 Time in words — the cards spell it out, phrase by phrase
🖼️ Wall or shelf — keyhole on the back, no extra hardware
🔄 2.0 mechanism — updated for smoother, more reliable flipping

Cloudnola, Amsterdam — Est. 2015.

How does the display work?
The Texttime uses a split-flap mechanism — physical cards flip into place each minute to spell out the time in words. No digital screen, no LED. Purely mechanical.

What does it say instead of numbers?
It displays time in plain language, for example: IT IS TWENTY PAST THREE.

How do I set the time?
Set the clock to 12:00 first by turning the time-setting knob on the back clockwise. Then advance forward to the correct time. Always move clockwise only.

Wall or desk?
Both. The flat base allows it to stand on a desk, shelf, or console. A keyhole on the back is used for wall mounting.

Is there a second hand or ticking sound?
No second hand. The split-flap cards create a soft mechanical flip sound once per minute.

What batteries?
2 × C batteries (not included). Replace when the flip mechanism slows.

This is so amazing, the design is sleek, a true statement piece. I am very happy.

The coolest clock ever. I love it - it was worth the wait.

This is such a COOL clock. Put in on a shelf in our living room and ready to order a second one for the basement to hang under the TV

A perfect addition to any modern decor. This whimsical design never ceases to draw favorable comments from visitors. Sitting above my pantry door in Palm Springs, this clock is right at home here.

Easy set up and looks great in office. Love the old school flip of the numbers

Classic mechanical flip, zero setup headaches, elite office vibes. Thanks for giving your desk the Cloudnola upgrade, Andy! 💼✨

It is broken, I emailed from the day it was received and I have yet to receive a response.

Misleading reviews like this are unfair, Seema. You wrote in on Saturday, and our team got back to you late Monday after the weekend. Please check your inbox for our reply! ✨

We received the Texttime 2.0 Bamboo clock after waiting for almost a month after ordering but it worth it.

We had a slight problem since the clip had moved in transport but the customer service helped us out.

Thanks

Crazy nice

coolest clock ever

Lovely

Mine came and didn’t work properly. Emailed company one night. By the morning they emailed me saying they were shipping another one and send the broken one back. I’d say that’s customer service!!

I could not love my Clock more. Easy to assemble simple to hang and spot on accurate. It is one of the best things I’ve bought, and I will likely buy something else from their selection!

Great looking and great operating clock. This is our second and we love the non retro look.

I saw this clock in a bar in Nice, France and liked it so much that I bought one. I love the clock!
The first one I was sent had a fault but Cloudnola offered me a replacement at no cost and without any hassle. The replacement has worked like a dream and I'm really pleased with it! Great customer service too

This was a wedding anniversary gift and he loved it.
Quality product that exceeded my expectations.

Great clock, very original & keep’s perfect time.

Purchased as a gift. It was a big hit!

Great

Very nice piece in my living room.
Easy to start.

The clock is great and fits in well with my decor. Although the setup instructions could have been a bit more helpful with setting the actual time. Took a few tries to get use to and gauge when the clock actually starts counting.

This clock is always a talking point when company is over due to its uniqueness and practicality. We love it and recommend it highly.

This clock is so much fun. Makes me smile!

LOVE IT

great styling, have had a few of the number faces come off at the beginning. Easy to put back on and haven't had any issues since. Clock loses about a minute a day. I'll try putting in fresh batteries to see if that solves that issue.
